Kate’s high school yearbook quote was “Every little cloud always sings aloud.” So apparently, singing has been a lifelong delight. At age 11, she discovered the joy and fun of making music and friends in a chorus, singing alto with the glee club and in a 12-voice ensemble. Nearly 40 years later, in 1998, a newspaper announcement about the Hopewell Valley Chorus brought her back to choral singing.

Within weeks, Kate moved to our tenor section, where she has happily sung ever since. She has served several terms as public (now community) relations director and initiated our collaboration with the Trenton Children’s Chorus as well as our annual multi-group concert, Spring into Song. A French major and former teacher, she loves singing in foreign languages and performing the variety of music in our repertoire, from classical to jazz, opera to gospel.

Kate and Tom moved to Pennington in 1972. They raised three sons here and now enjoy having their two grandchildren right around the corner. She’s a former member and president of the Hopewell Valley League of Women Voters and has served on the Pennington Planning/Zoning Board since 1978. A dedicated Jazzerciser, she has one additional lifelong passion: standard poodles: to raise, to train, and, above all, to love.
